Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Pace mobile application and website (the “Service”). Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Who we are & acceptance
The Service is operated by Pace (“Pace”, “we”, “us”). By accessing or using the Service you enter into a binding agreement with us. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility
The Service is strictly reserved for individuals aged 18 or over who can form a legally binding contract. By using Pace you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old. We may close any account where we have reason to believe the user is a minor.
3. Your account & security
You sign in with your phone number via a one-time code (and optionally Apple or Google). You must provide accurate information, keep it up to date, maintain only one personal account, and keep access to your device and account secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
4. How Pace works
Pace is built around progressive photo reveal, a 48-hour conversation window, a limited number of daily notes, and an AI “dossier” (compatibility read and suggested opener). These features are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis and may evolve, change, or be discontinued as the product develops.
5. Community rules & acceptable use
You agree to treat others with respect and not to: harass, threaten, defame, or discriminate; post nudity, sexually explicit, hateful, or illegal content; impersonate anyone or misrepresent your identity or age; solicit money or promote commercial activity; spam, scrape, reverse-engineer, or access the Service by automated means; or create accounts for anyone under 18. Breaking these rules may lead to content removal, suspension, or a permanent ban.
6. Your content & licence
You retain ownership of the photos, voice notes, text, and other content you submit. You grant Pace a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example to generate blurred variants), and display your content for the purpose of operating, securing, and improving the Service. You represent that you hold the necessary rights to the content you submit.
7. Safety & interactions with others
Pace does not conduct criminal background checks on users. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other people. Take sensible precautions, meet in public places, and tell someone where you are going. We provide reporting and blocking tools and may — but are not obliged to — moderate content or conduct, and may remove content or restrict accounts to protect users.
8. Subscriptions, Pace+ & payments
Pace may offer paid, auto-renewing subscriptions (“Pace+”). Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store and billed to your Apple ID; price and billing period are shown at purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You manage or cancel renewal in your App Store account settings. Except where required by applicable law or the App Store’s rules, payments are non-refundable. We may change subscription prices, with notice, for future billing periods.
9. Promotions & free trials
We may offer promotional or complimentary premium access (for example a number of free days). Such offers are made at our discretion, are personal and non-transferable, have no cash value, and may be modified or withdrawn at any time.
10. Intellectual property
The Pace name, logo, design, and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use them without our prior written permission.
11. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or create a risk for other users or for Pace. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from within the app. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including content licence to the extent necessary, disclaimers, and liability limits) will survive.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that you will find a match, that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that AI-generated content is accurate or complete.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Pace shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of data or profits, or for the conduct of other users. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable French or EU law, including your mandatory consumer-protection rights.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Pace harmless from claims and costs arising out of your misuse of the Service or your breach of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We will revise the “last updated” date and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence. We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any dispute amicably. Failing resolution, the competent courts will have jurisdiction in accordance with applicable law. EU consumers may also use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform.
