This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Pace collects, why, and the rights you have. It applies to the Pace mobile application and website. We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Data controller & scope
Pace is the controller of the personal data processed through the Service. This policy covers the Pace app and website. For any privacy request you can contact us at support@pacematch.app.
2. Data we collect
Account & identity: phone number, email address, name, date of birth, gender. Profile content: photos (and their blurred variants), voice notes, bio, prompt answers, interests, values, and sports. Location: approximate or precise location to show people near you. Connected services: data from Strava or Spotify if you choose to connect them. Activity: matches, notes, messages, reveal state, and reactions. Preferences, settings, and consents. Technical & usage data: device, app version, IP address, identifiers, interactions, and crash/analytics data. Subscription status via Apple and RevenueCat — we do not store your card number.
3. Why we use your data & legal bases
To provide the Service and matching (performance of our contract with you). To process special-category data — your sexual orientation may be inferred from who you are looking for — only with your explicit consent (GDPR Art. 9(2)(a)). For safety, moderation, and fraud prevention (our legitimate interest and legal obligations). For the AI dossier and personalisation (contract / legitimate interest). To send marketing emails and push campaigns (your consent, which you can withdraw). For analytics and attribution (your consent where required). To comply with the law.
4. Progressive reveal & photo privacy
Your clear photos are protected server-side and are delivered to other users only through time-limited signed URLs once the reveal has been earned. This is both a core feature and a privacy and trust measure.
5. Who we share data with
Other users see your profile according to your reveal state. We use service providers (processors) acting on our instructions, including Supabase (hosting and database), Cloudflare (media and delivery), Apple and RevenueCat (subscriptions), Mailjet (email), and analytics, attribution, and push providers. We may disclose data to authorities where required by law or to protect users. Data may transfer as part of a corporate transaction. We never sell your personal data.
6. International transfers
We aim to host EU users’ data within the European Union. Where a transfer outside the EEA is necessary, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Retention
We keep your personal data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your data, except where we must retain certain information for legal, security, or dispute-resolution purposes. Feedback and similar records are kept only as long as needed.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your data, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact support@pacematch.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority — in France, the CNIL.
9. Security
We use technical and organisational measures including encryption in transit, row-level security on our database, signed URLs for media, and strict access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data appropriately.
10. Children
Pace is exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect or process the personal data of minors. If we learn that a minor has used the Service, we will delete the account.
11. Marketing & notifications
We send marketing emails and promotional push notifications only where permitted and based on your consent. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link or by emailing us, and manage push notifications in your device settings.
12. Cookies, SDKs & analytics
Our website uses a functional cookie to remember your language. The app uses analytics and attribution tools subject to your consent and your App Tracking Transparency choices on iOS.
13. Automated processing
Matching and the AI dossier involve automated processing to suggest profiles and generate content for you. These do not produce legal effects concerning you, and you can contact us with any question about them.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. We will update the “last updated” date and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice.
